What do I want to change, fix, or improve? What’s the expected/desired outcome?

The store just added fidget spinners as a hot new item for the store, but customers are finding that the availability is hit and miss, resulting in upset and angry children!  How hard is it to keep the item in stock, knowing customer demand is through the roof?

What do I know about this? How should I proceed?

Manager in charge of ordering is entering orders into their system as one-time orders. The item needs to be flagged as a recurring order based on demand forecasting.

Problem solving checklist for Manager in charge of ordering:
  • Manager gauges how quickly the product sells out once in stock
  • In the ordering system, click the “Recur” radio button and enter number of days between orders for the item
  • Revisit the number of days every 2 weeks to align with customer demand

How do I know if it is done right?

Supply of fidget spinners will meet the customer demand.
